Topic: TEE-Guided Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation

The use of focused TEE during the resuscitation of patients in cardiac arrest and periarrest states has shown to be feasible and clinically impactful in the PERIOPERATIVE, intensive care, and emergency settings. Providing continuous, high-quality images of the heart, TEE allows real-time feedback on the delivery of chest compressions, identification of reversible pathologies, and guidance of resuscitative procedures. These unique qualities make TEE ideally suited during resuscitation and has potential to improve cardiac arrest outcomes.

Topic: Critical Care TEE During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has placed an extraordinary strain on healthcare systems across North America. Defining the optimal approach for managing a critically ill COVID-19 patient is rapidly changing. Focused transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is frequently used by physicians caring for intubated critically-ill patients as reliable imaging modality well-suited to answer goal-directed questions that can impact care at the bedside.  A multi-disciplinary group of experts in point-of-care ultrasonography and TEE will discuss their experience using TEE in the management of critically-ill patients with COVID-19.
